This is a packaged rice, made with a novel manufacturing method and using only domestically produced Koshihikari rice. By filling, cooking, and steaming the rice all in the tray (so called “tray cooking”), unnecessary crushing of the rice grains is avoided, resulting in a glossy finish. A two-fold heating step of pressurized heating and steam treatment prior to the actual steaming of the rice gives a bowl of delectable rice that is fluffy on the outside yet firm on the inside.
