Unlike typical meat or shrimp shumai sold in markets and restaurants, Hana Ika Shumai is filled with generous amount of chopped freshly-caught squid mixed with surimi fish paste which are then beautifully wrapped with thin strips of dumpling skin resembling a blooming flower. This dumpling has natural sweetness from the squid and cod surimi with a light seafood aroma and fluffy, soft texture.
